OK excuse the waffle but here goes.
Have saved as birthday/xmas pressie to myself and thought s&* it, just get a macbook pro and be done with it. But now seen this and in a quandry.
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5083620/Trail/searchtext%3ESONY+VAIO+EA.htm
Not going to get at Argos, know they pverprice, but going on the model and specs.
Here's my thinking:
Sony Vaio well established
Newer processor than the macbook
twice the hard drive
Windows 7 (no having to learn how Macs work etc)
Blu-Ray
HDMI slot so can link direct to camcorder
And obviously the cheaper price which I'm trying not to let overinfluence me, but it is.
Thoughts on if this is agood model and will last a good few years please?
Also, not buying until end of November (unless this thing dies suddenly in meantime, it is currently poorly sick!) so any ideas of upcoming pre-Xmas/pre-VAT rise sales?
TIA

I would go for the MacBook pro. I have one and it's great.
Have heard mostly bad thing from Sony laptop owners.0 -
Not this Sony user!
Am using my fourth Sony Vaio and it's a fantastic PC.
Good luck0 -
If you could wait you'd get it cheaper in the Jan sales! The Sony that is, dont think it matters what time of the year you buy a mac the price is always extortionate.0

But can't wait that long, as current laptop very poorly. Anyway surely the price war will be before Xams this year because of the VAT increase in Jan?0 -
The only thing i would ever consider buying a Mac for is Highend video or photo Editing, Nothing more.
Windows 7 all the way.
That looks like a good spec. If your not getting from Argos. Then try looking a http://www.ebuyer.com for laptops.
Also HDMI port is usually HDMI OUT not HDMI IN. Which means usually you hook it to a HDMI supported TV/Monitor to replicated your screen or play movies etc. on a larger screen.Peter: Hey Lois... what's this word? Lois: Evil. Peter: And this one? Lois: Knievel. Peter: And this one? Lois: Was. Peter: And this one? Lois: Born. Peter: And this one? Lois: In.

SOLD then - well when get enough pennies at end of next month. and you've jsut answered my next questions regarding hooking it to the TV to watch downloaded video/TV shows (legally downloaded of course!) on the main TV. Thanks0
