Can they force you to handover?

We were told we were at "risk" of redundancy in July (100+ people). We were given a letter in Sept telling us how much we would get if we were made redunandant (more than statutory) and that we would have to sign a compromise agreement. The work is all being outsourced to India, but about 50 "new" jobs are being created and we have to apply for them, otherwise they will choose who gets them. There are no suitable jobs for me, so I guess I will be redundant at the end of Nov (after 20+ years). Still no official offer, however we are now having to attend meetings with the outsource company staff to basically tell them how to do our jobs and handover our projects. Can they make us do that? It's very upsetting. What if I refuse to co-operate, can they refuse to pay me the extra redundancy money?:(

Why would you refuse to co-operate? Do you want your redundancy money or not? Perhaps you'd prefer to be sacked for misconduct instead by not doing your job as asked?

Redundancy sucks. We all know know it and most have been there before. Calm down and focus yourself on getting a new job. Give them the project stuff if they want it - they'll sort it out with or without you anyway, you'll just be making enemies that perhaps you can ill afford if you don't.

My handover took took 2 months and 2 overseas trips to train those that were going to do my job.

This was all agreed and planned during the consultation it is part of doing your job.

the alternative is as has been said disiplinery and potentialy dismisal without redundancy.

I hope the company has some tight controls and management of the outsourceing.
I know that the companies we used had people working for multiple companies and projects at the same time so there is no confidentiality.

Burning bridges is a dangerous game you never know who and where you will be working with next, OK if the package is so good you can retire.
