Problems re clutch/gearbox for peugeot 206 looking for advice
I took my peugeot 206 into a local garage as it was making alot of noises under the bonnet (forgive me i am female) the garage took it for a spin and said it was the clutch which i paid £480 for them to replace (this was a monday) The next day they called to say a part was broke and they had to wait for another clutch. I picked the car up that evening (tuesday) 2 minutes down the road the noise was worse than ever. Returned to garage who told me to leave it with them and they would look at it on wednesday, They then said it was the gear box and would source the replacement at £500. Its now friday dinner time still no car and the garage are still waiting for the part.
What are my rights if the problem still exists as the garage would of been doing unecessary work?
Thanks

I would think that the garage was wrong in their first diagnosis, it does depend what the noise was, but any garage should know that hese cars have had gearbox issues, though it does depend on the noise, I have driven a 206 that made the most horrendous grinding noise, that turned out to be a wheel bearing.
And £480 for a clutch seems a bit steep, as is £500 for a used gearbox, try and source the gearbox yourself and get the garage to fit it for free, as they where asked to fix the problem, not just spend your money replacing every part till the noise went away.0
