Ovo told me to give them a meter reading on the 10th of the month and it would be used for the 14th of the month bill. They did put my reading on the bill but then estimated from the 10th to the 14th putting an estimated reading on the bill as well. It was daft but it did mean that it was pretty accurate.

Yes they told me the same, and did the same. What I now do is submit the reading on the 14th and that seems to work without them doing any estimation.

I've been with OVO on their fixed rate electricity tariff for around 6 months and I cannot fault their prices however, in other respects I find the company devious and lacking in any sense of fair play.

Today I received an email telling me that due to the coming winter months and my previous two years meter readings, they were going to raise my DD by almost 80%.

I received an email saying something similar, albeit not 80%. They said they were using the estimated usage that I gave them on signing up; however using those figures with the new rates came to much less than they were wanting. So I went to the ovo web site and used the 'compare rates' pages to work out what my costs should be (and surprise, surprise it agreed with my calculation). So I emailed them back and pointed out that their web site said that for my usage the annual cost would be £xxxx which meant the monthly DD should be £xxx. They replied saying they would change my DD to match that figure.

So it seems that if you can give them some justifiable numbers then they do listen.

Yes Terry2, they do eventually get around to agreeing with what you want but it's the hassle and time spent in gettting it resolved that bugs me.

As I said in my last post some of us are good at managing our consumption and accounts, so the sooner OVO listens and pays attention to what we have to say, the better it will be for us and OVO of course!
