Legal signage?

I was wondering if the second picture, (re the second link), is legit?

The first link is how the second one used to be, these streets are adjacent to each other, i.e street with less text on sign is first, then it turns at right angles into the second street with a different street name,(if that makes sense?)

The picture with less text on it is the original sign, (same text as the first link, but with the extra text is painted out, are they allowed to do this?

The third link just shows how the bay is set out.

The second sign does not conform with the Department for Transport's Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002, soon to be superseded later this year.

Does that mean any PCN placed on vehicle would be null and void? Council wardens.

Haven't got one by the way.

Not necessarily. The adjudicator would make the decision on this, but there is a chance that as the bays are marked correctly, and a reasonable person would know what the sign is meant to say, the lack of a blue P may be regarded as de minimis - an insignificant omission which does not necessarily invalidate the enforcement of a law or regulation.

Whilst the sign in itself might not be enough, if say it was added to dodgy bays then it would carry weight. Pics of bays ends would be help here.

Can't get pics now, but if you put post code PR12UQ into Google Maps, the 2 streets are Heatley Street,(second link in OP, dodgy signage), and Ladywell Street,(legit signage).

  • Unfortunately google does not have data on these two streets so can only see the ends where they join marsh road etc.

You can see the end of the bay in Heatley Street, nearest to Corporation Street, by zooming into Heatley Street.

I will try and get pictures tomorrow.
