Because people shouting down the phone solves nothing. At least in letter there is proper trace and people can be resonable.
I reserve shouting down the phone for if the other person is being deliberately rude and obstructive (as opposed to simply not being able to do something because of policy and being polite about it, which I fully understand) as opposed to not getting my way. I will agree it solves nothing in the first instance, but it'll actually make things worse if it's just because they won't do exactly what I want.
(I had this with my "co-op bank accusing me of fraud" woes, I made every effort to be polite, if annoyed, up until I got someone who constantly interrupted me, wouldn't let me finish sentences, actually said something was "more than his job's worth" and was very abrupt and rude, then had the audacity to say "shouting won't get you anywhere" when it was perfectly clear that politeness wouldn't with him either!)
OP, just a question I don't think anyone's asked - why were you apparently deliberately leaving an account with insufficient funds to pay/bounce a Direct Debit while having sufficient credit funds elsewhere? Why are you upset the bank appropriated these funds, given that it's money you would otherwise have owed to them anyway?0 -
So the bank does the OP a favour and now they dont like, If your direct debt failed then op would be on here complaining can they apply these charges to my account.
It's hardly a favour when they're still charging them as if they had gone unauth OD.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

The OP didn't say they'd got charges on these occasions, just that they'd been charged on previous occasions. It would seem unfair if they'd charged for this, but I very much doubt they did so.urs sinserly,
