Go to your local council and register as homeless. As there are children involved they have to help you (but don't expect to just walk into a nice big house).Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j
OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.
Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0 -
Can you not seek advise from SAAFA?0

Hi Tracey
I think it's hard to say without knowing your full position, but did you leave forces accomodation to move into your parents and how long is it since your hubby served?
I've got a friend in a similar position, they were on their last tour and moved into emgerency housing. They've been stuck in an awful place, but after 8 weeks have finally been offered a council house. SAAFA gave them a lot ot advice, but no financial assistance.
If you can't rent or buy then I think your only option would be council housing. I'd contact your local council and register yourselves on the waiting list and in the meantime save like mad and try and get a deposit together to buy. Living at home is a great opportunity to save as your outgoings should be a lot less than living in your own home. Good luck Tracey, I hope you get sorted soon.Starting again and working towards our new df life!A very proud forces wife0 -
Depends on an individual's circumstances as to what help SSAFA can obtain for them. Most of the financial help that comes through SSAFA is from Service or Civilian charities who SSAFA have applied to on behalf of the clients. These benevolent funds and charities all have their own set of rules about what they will or won't help with. Your husband working might make obtaining help difficult but it's still worth contacting ssafa to see if they can get you some assistance. They might know of places to rent or organisations/housing associations and be able to put in a good word for you where necessary.
My local council refuses to offer a council house until a family physically arrives - so they end up in a hostel or B & B - until offered accommodation which can take weeks/months. I spoke to a housing officer and he told me the number of council houses in an area, how many are likely to change tenants during a year and the enormous number of people waiting for one of those few vacancies.0
