Sony Vaio problem

Hi, I'm not too sure what the problem is. When I recharge the battery, sometimes it doesn't recharge. The icon at the bottom for the battery doesn't show a plug next to it & inevitably the computer shuts down. If i fidle with the connector & recheck all the connections, it will then restore itsel. I dont know which is the faulty connection- the plug, the connector at the adaptor box or the DC connector going into the back of the computer ( certainly hoping its not that one). Also, even if the computer is fully charged, if I run it on the battery, it discharges really quickly, as in 20 mins. Obviously, there is a problem, but cant quite decide where the problem lies. Do I have a connection problem, a battery problem or both?

I would suggest that either the power cord is damaged or the solder joints for the connector need a resolder.

Its hard to determine which without seeing it. Perhaps your best bet is to get a universal power supply from Argos.

Test the machine, if it still fails then take the power supply back and your problem is almost certainly the connector.

As for the Battery, well its common for the battery to degrade over time. See if you can find a company to restore the existing battery, otherwise you may have to replace it.
