Buyer refusing to pay for item - help pls

Hi,

We sold some clothing on ebay but the buyer is refusing to pay saying the size is wrong. The size was clearly indicated in the ad and they bid. They are claiming it was listed in a "size category" and they went by the size category, i.e. small, medium, large and not the exact measurements given in the ad! We feel this is utter nonsense as not only was the item NOT listed in any size category, why would you search for something in "small", "medium" or "large" and just bid on it without checking the measurements.

Does anyone have any advice on what we should do? Have never had to report a buyer before for not performing their part of the bargain. We are private sellers not a business.

Also can we block people like this from bidding in the future in case they try and sabotage future listings?

Open a NPB. You can't force them to pay unfortunately but at least you will get your fvf's back

And add them to your blocked bidders list (search Ebay for Blocked Bidders list).

Many thanks for the advice. Assume "NPB" means non paying bidder - I'll search for it on ebay. What effect does this have on your feedback though please as I think I read on another post in this forum that it can affect it? Our feedback is building and good so don't want to affect it if possible...

if you open an npb and they don't pay they get a strike; a completed npb should not be able to leave feedback and if they do you can get it removed.

If they do pay (To avoid a Strike), make sure you send it fully tracked.

Sounds perfectly plausible average buyer's behaviour to me, I'm afraid... still deserve a strike but it could well be true. A lie would probably be more credible...

Set your buyer requirements to exclude people with 2 or more NPB strikes. Won't catch them all, but will stop people who have form for this kind of thing. Also, don't take an aggressive tone with the bidder, tell them that you're happy for them to cancel but the NPB thing is just a formality to get your fees back. If you antagonise them they could pay, claim INR, neg, etc, and just be general nuisance.
