Does anyone know if this can be done with one cable and where I could get the cable to do this?

    Depends on:

    The connections on your laptop

    The connections on your TV

You need to tell us what connections you have on both (or the make and model of both, so we can Google them)

Chances are both have vga connections, however you would need to handle the audio separately.
The only interface I'm aware of that will handle both is HDMI.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
