There is a bus replacement service between Bournemouth and Southampton that weekend.
Plenty of Advance Singles between Weymouth and Waterloo at £13.00 each way.
With a one day off peak travelcard at £7.50,
your complete return trip becomes £33.50.
Remember, with Advance Singles you must travel on the booked train.

If you are going in a group of 3 or 4 get a "Group save" ticket, pay for 2, the 3rd and 4th are free, so £33 each for 3 or £25 each for 40

Its on the rail network and you can use your Oyster card to get there."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -
The one day travelcard will allow you to use any bus, tube or train within zones 1-6 in London. I would imagine that your Oyster would do the same (though I don't know about the war vet bit). Thanks , I have that now ! when you say £7.50 one day travel card , is that a tube ticket and will that get me to Twickenham ?
