texts from 69392

I have had obscene/crude texts from this number to my mobile. I don't know who it is? has anybody else had this? I can find no info on google. It mentions text cost £1 each min imum of 10 ?? and to send 'stop' to that number., (if you don't want them presumably., but is this part of the scam?) does this mean i am getting charged for each text i am being sent and will I be charged £1 to send the STOP message?

there was another number at the end 08444457707. could i get orange to block it? or would they say something like 'we can for x number of days for x amount of money to do so'? (but it wouldn't stop it entirely.) anybody know what best to do, please?

Could I find out who gave them my number (very few people have it.)?

  • Hi I too have had a text to my mobile to this number and like you very few people have my number. After I text STOP I had the same thought 'is this costing me a £1'

I'm fairly sure that STOP texts are not charged.

Where did they get the number from? The previous user of the number may have signed up but it is more likely that they simply randomly text a batch of numbers. Bulk SMS's by these companies is a very cheap form of marketing.

The regulator for these services is phonepayplus.org.uk . Through their website you can easily find out who sent you the texts, how to make a complaint and how to get your money back. The regulator has the power to fine or ban companies which don't comply.

The very best of luck with it. You should be able to get a refund of the charges once phonepayplus are involved.
