Selection pools for redundancy

Can my employer say I need two redundancies, one part time and one full time. The part time pool would be made up of 3 females only, two of which are family members (a wife of the line manager and the sister in law of the line manager) and me. the full time pool consists of both male and female. One of the full time females is the last employed in the dept and does the same job as me. She has been removed from the pool on the grounds that she is essential to the company, thus making me the last one in and so I have been made redundant. Is this fair or have I a claim for unfair dismissal

Being chosen on a last in first out is illegal now. Are you sure that is what happened.
Have a look at the ACAS site
or the .gov on redundancy.
Cant help further than that, sorry.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

First of all, speak to some one at ACAS someone there will help you.
Like I say, using a last in first out, if this is the case then they have acted illegally.
Failing everyting else
You can go to a solicitor for half an hours free time but ring up first.
Ask the receptionist who would be the best solicitor to speak to after outlining your problem.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

not in and of itself. It can be indirectly discriminataly (on the grounds of age) which would be illegal but it isn't automatically so
