free survey/questionnaire sites

Options
I am back doing research after a long period away and things like survey monkey and other survey sites didn't exist.

I am currently looking at research methods and am wondering if it is academically acceptable to uses sites like survey monkey rather than the hard graft of collating quantative data myself.

If it is acceptable what ones have any of you used. I know that the free version of surveymonkey is quite limited but are there other free online questionnaire sites that will collate the data?

Yes it's generally acceptable. I've no experience with the sites from the researcher side of things so cannot recommend a particular one. If you're collecting data for a university project speak to your project manager/advisor as the department or university may have a site they recommend and have a subscription allowing you to use the sites fully.

I never thought about that. I am seeing my tutor for the first time next Friday so want to take as much prepared as possible so that is a great question to ask. thanks

Yes, it is acceptable, just make sure you justify why you are using it. The best one will be different for everyone, depending on how many questions you need to ask, how many replies you are expecting, etc. I used Survey Gizmo because it had unlimited questions, allowed 300 replies per month and then offered the option of downloading the data in Excel format.
