Talk about benefits can't be compartmentalised. imo. It pervades all topics. It will haunt the seekers just as it drains the taxpayers. Apparently we're all in it together. My perception of these discussions are not the same as yours though - I've seen unjust attacks launched on the haves by the have-nots and envy is not an ugly trait but also a deadly sin according to holy scriptures, specially after coveting a good chunk from the haves to lead decent lives. In any case the poor don't have to actualy crumble thinking about other people who are more privileged - in a democracy they have more power because they are a majority, or so the rest of us are told when the wealthy are expected to pay more and more from their share to distribute it to the poor.0

Jesus supported welfare, feeding the five thousand and what not.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
[/greenhighlight][redtitle]
The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -
There already is a forum for people on benefits seeking advice. That isn't the place to debate the welfare system. DT is set up for general debate on issues of the day.
Benefits happens to be a current affair and in the news. I can understand that it upsets those that go out and work and pay tax for a modest income and see the lazy and fekless better off than they are.
Hopefully the Tories will succeed in knocking "benefits Britain" on the head. Then all the benefits threads will be moaning scroungers rather than annoyed tax payers.I wonder why it is, that young men are always cautioned against bad girls. Anyone can handle a bad girl. It's the good girls men should be warned against.-David Niven0 -
Jesus supported welfare, feeding the five thousand and what not.
And that's where he was wrong. He should have teached them to fish, rather than feed a load of lazy scroungers.
How Christianity got to be a world religion is based on the politics of unifying the Roman Empire. It's got nothing to do with the idiot religion being logical.I wonder why it is, that young men are always cautioned against bad girls. Anyone can handle a bad girl. Please don't make anyone look like they're heartess ct_k; this is my first and last post to you on this because I don't offer airtime for those who debate disingenuously. I suggest you look out for people who respond equally dishonestly. The best observation I've come across from someone on these sort of topics is that this limitless generosity being taken to extremes and people not willing to admit there are issues about fraud and immorality and generally in the wrong. That's not being generous so much as being amoral.Jesus supported welfare, feeding the five thousand and what not.
we both know that we're not speaking about the welfare for those who need it and that serves as a safety net
what's becoming a burden and tedious is when the tax payer feels the pinch and they feel the pinch when the needy becomes greedy and when the lazy become frauds
And the saint, Jesus, we both so love also said thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not desire and covet that doesn't belong to you, be it jewels, wife, donkey or slave. Do you even care what the taxpayers think or are you happy to indulge and promote this sense of entitelment regardless. I'm actually not too bothered to object even if it is the case but I hold no respect either.0 -
Didn't there used to be more posts on this thread? Are we not allowed to joke any more? Jesus Christ ...There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.
