Vulnerable energy customers

Has anyone any advice about energy companies that have decent deals and help for elderly and disabled customers.

All companies have to have a Priority Service Register but I want to find companies that do more than they have to, any advice or info would be welcome.

My intention is to avoid if possible the companies that asked OFGEM to remove conditions from the licence to supply energy, they have let down vulnerable consumers and in doing so revealed their true colors.

Let everyone know what you think.

Have a look at Ebico who say

"Ebico has been leading the way in cutting household energy bills since 1998. As a not-for-profit company, our core aim is to put people before profits – and to provide affordable energy for every home.
With no shareholders to keep happy, we don’t have to deal out dividends to anyone. Instead, we can put all our resources into providing EquiGas and EquiPower at fair rates for every customer – regardless of your income or circumstances, or how you choose to pay.
With Ebico, our customers come first. All customers, equally. That’s the only reason we’re here."

Last time I checked elderly and vulnerable customers had a tendency to have higher consumptions than many. As such, Ebico is a rather silly recommendation. The free market targets and rewards profligate spenders - the elderly and vulnerable should really be opting for the cheap tariffs that are available.

Of course it would be nice if differentials were axed and every supplier was forced to provide a single base tariff to all customers. But that world does not exist.

Ebico would appear to meet these requirements, where many of the larger companies would not!

Many older & vulnerable people may not have higher consumptions because they are frightened to use it due to the expense. They may also have a desire to avoid direct debits, not have access to on line deals etc. Ebico does not of course differentiate on payment methods. It may not be cheapest in all areas but is certainly competitive in mine (especially if the above applies)

Did you actually have a helpful suggestion by the way - like the name of a company you would suggest meets their desires ? ;)
