I had an email from Donal Russell today for a meat pack that included Ox cheeks. I've never eaten them before and wondered if they were nice and what recipe 's anyone may have tried with them in. I've never tried Oxtail before either except soup, they are in the pack as well.
Do you think it's a bit ambitious? You get 4 free packs of mince as well as free delivery, not sure if I should try it, never bought from them before.

Hi Donald Russell are doiung a 'beef for braising pack' but I've never cooked oxcheek before.
I do love oxtail, is it like that?
Not really sure how much I'd use for 2 people, it's an 800g pack with 2 pieces in which sounds huge to me.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

I'm sure "what goes in your basket" did a meal with cheeks in its first week or two.0 -
Hi MrsE
I just found a Come Dine With Me recipe, braised ox cheeks with mash - the picture looks a bit like it wouldn't fill a mouse but I get the gist of it now.
Looks like you cook it slowly with root veg and some wine as you would for any old beef meal.
I think I'll have to get a pack, it's looks good value.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Porobably the rich and famous do but not me, I only buy the stuff that's on offer.
But their minced steak is to die for and I'm down to my last pack, so I'll have to bite the bullet and put an order in (while they have the free delivery offer too).
That's the same pack I'm looking at..

Thats just over 3kgs, so £13.00 a kilo.
Would love to use the mince, but its not 5% fat & I'm on slimming world:(0 -
The steak mince, when I've used it for spag bol I didn't think had enough fat in it, when I brown it off in the pan nothing at all comes out of it?
The beef rib trim is good too but I can't quite get 4 servings out of a pack, to do us 2 days.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.
