    Hello

Go to your My Ebay page and at the top is SITE MAP - Look down the list and there is an option "end your listing" under the selling activities column. You will have several options there eg. you might have a bid and want to end with that bidder being a winner etc.

or a different way to do it is go to your list of items beingsold in your "my ebay" then to the right of the item you want to end you will see a box, click the blue bit to open up the options then click on end listing :)

Liz, if the auction had 12 hours or less to run, then you won't be able to end it I'm afraid (not sure if it has, so ignore me it has more time on it to run than that :))

Its okay, it's got a few days to run. Unfortuneatley, its got a bid, but been promised to someone else.

In that case you need to cancel the existing bid, and only then can you close the auction.

can I actually do that? I've emailed the bidder to ask them to retract, but would it be better to cancel the bid and let them know?

if you follow my directions above, you then get some options, one of these options is "cancel bids and end listing early", you then get asked the reason for doing it. Hope that helps

Just cancel the bid, they are unlikely to voluntarily retract as it shows on their feedback page and no one wants to be seen as someone who retracts bids too often.

If you think they may be aggresive over it, and some bidders are as they may suspect you are selling the item 'off ebay' to avoid fees, you may want to block them from bidding on your auctions in future. To be honest though that is a bit extreme, and most buyers will just shrug their shoulders and go elsewhere.
