Windscreen replacemant
Options
Hi folks, I had to get quotes today for a replacement front windscreen for my car and was astonished at the price difference between companies. I got 4 identical quotes from local companies and the difference was unbelievable!!! the most expensive being £384.51:eek: , to the cheapest being £99.87:T How do companies get awa charging such a difference in prices?? Interested to know if anyone else has had same problem!!! thanks

some windscreens have special tints on them and others are actually heated front windscreens (cousin's Mondeo for eg). Are you sure it's for the same type of windscreen?working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0

Yes, all my quotes for for a tinted windscreen with the extra tinted part at the top, that is why i cant understand the difference in price!!0

Guess it depends on how much they want to actually do the job. If it's a smaller garage they may not really want to do the job and give you a high price to make it worth their hassle?working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0

Is the existing cracked or chipped? Have you got fully comp insurance? If so you should be able to go via your insurance, they'll charge you an excess of between £50-75 and it won't effect your no claims.0

I had the same experience. I have an old clio - my windscreen developed a crack and the highest price was from auto windscreens at over £400 (I only paid £500 for the car). I managed to get it done by RAC for less than £100. Apparently the scrap yard is cheaper but I couldnt be bothered with the fuss! There are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.0

The expensive companies make their money from lazy customers. You've got much cheaper quotes. You've made the effort and you save money. Good MSE result.Happy chappy0
