Have a look at the Chelsea BS e-saver.

There is no account of that name on the Chelsea website. E-saver Reward is listed but with that account you get no interest whatsoever on the total balance in the account during any month (other than April) that you make a withdrawal.

The rates on offer can be beaten by accounts offering unlimited penalty-free instant access.
  • What I do is find the best paying instant access A/C I can find and set up a new one just before the bonus ends.

For example in August last year I opened up a Instant Access with Egg at 3.2% which included a bonus for one year. I then made a note to act in 11 months time.

So in July this year I opened the AA Instant Access at 2.8% and when the Egg bonus ended I had a new account ready and running to transfer my cash to.

When we get to June next year I intend to repeat the process. I find if I'm organized it does not take up much time.

  • the Investec High 5 account which took the average of the top 5 accounts - but unfortunately I'm fairly sure the account is no longer available to new investors....... I'm sure someone else can confirm or you can Google it .....

Confirmed now closed for new people.

It was £10K minimum anyway, and just had my last statement showing 29th Sept onwards rate of 2.77%. Given I can get 2.75%, monthly interest, with instant access (High 5 is 3 months notice), it doesn't cut the mustard.

I saw this coming once it got down to 2.87% in August, so shoved in the notice.
  • I opened an online saver with Barnsley BS for similar reasons to yourself; can't keep checking.

This was previously on the MSE best 'clean' rate list, but at 0.1% less than those now listed, seems to have fallen off the list.

    2.5% without disappearing bonuses.

All very straightforward to set up and use. Usual 3 days to transfer back to current account.

    Very happy with it.
