What counts as displaying business info?

Like most people who run their eBay business properly I am registered as a business seller on eBay. At first I didn't like the thought of my full contact details always being visible on every auction page, and although I'm not that bothered by it, I know a lot of people still are. Check out this item number 130439509495. Has this seller found a way around it? Is this allowed? It could be the solution to those sellers quite nervous about their full name & address etc being displayed.

No, it has to be a full geographical address. That's probably going to get nixed if someone reports it (which thanks to it being linked on this board, it may be) and I wouldn't buy from them on principle because I don't like listings that give me migraines.

Unfortunately you have to have a full address on your listings. It's the law. You can, however, find an agency which specialises in renting addresses for this purpose - that's entirely legal and a much better workaround than this person has fixed upon.

I was concerned at first but to be honest i haven't really been bothered by it for some time. In reality not many people bother to read the address anyway, i had a buyer wanting to collect an item (which is fine) but they had to ask me for the address even though it's on the listing so i assume not many see it anyway.

This is exactly how I gradually realised that nobody reads it!! Everyone still asks where you are for collection.

It was just a suggestion for those who are frightened of putting their address in. I have no 'axe to grind' as it were. Just an observation. I love being back!

Sorry, I can sound a bit off sometimes. I feel very strongly about law-breaking in terms of trading which this is and I didn't mean you hadn't done the right thing, just that it is strictly not allowed as it is actual trading legislation they are breaking, not just eBay rules or a general code of conduct. And advising people to do that themselves is a bit dangerous --- they could get into very serious trouble for it. Trading law is full of issues that could land sellers with large fines or civil court cases brought against them and it's probably not worth it in the long run, particularly as it doesn't seem to make a difference when dealing with the "usual suspects".

Also some people may ask as I've seen a lot of people stating their contact details and then saying "this is only for informational purposes; we don't receive callers here", so sometimes the people asking are genuine and just a bit confused at some of the addresses people display.
