Hi all, we are in a dmp & obviously have several defaults and i imagine appaling credit. We have just got a new car & its a smaller engine & has gone down 5 insurance group yet amazingly More than ( our current insurers) have said it wont be any cheaper. We have been on g compare & instead of £52 a month we can get it for £35:j

Problem is i have just read everywhere will do a credit check :( we cant afford to pay for the car insurance up front we ned to pay monthly so what do we do? Has anyone swapped car insurance whilst on a dmp etc? who to use? x

Well if you cant pay it upfront you have no real choice than to pay monthly.

Whats the worst that can happen, they say NO so you will have to find it all to pay outright.
I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
    Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.

    PRESS THANKS

  • we could never afford £500 upfront though we barely have enough to live on now x

Might have been wise to find out the insurance cost before buying the car...most insurance companies will quote for cars you havent yet purchased. Also, in future, if you spend £500 less on the car, you'll have that £500 in cash to buy insurance. That's what I do as I too am on a DMP. You just need a little bit of forethought.

I've never had a problem ;) I think you're worrying about a problem that doesnt exist in this case?

    Hi FF

Might be worth asking on the DMP mutual support thread or the without a paddle thread to see if anyone in the same situation has any suggestions/ or who they were able to pass a credit check with, as that may tell you which insurance companies are a bit more relaxed on defaults etc.

    Hiya

I changed my car insurance without a problem. Did it through Moneysupermarket and my actual policy is with the Post Office paying monthly (ironically my home insurance is with the AA :rotfl:)

As someone else has said I think you are worrying about a problem that doesn't exist.
