Renault megane Cam Belt

Looking at buying a Renault Magane from garage near mine. Says the cam belt went so he has replaced it and replaced all valves. Do you think its safe to buy or could there be more damage done that might take a while to show?

    I'd walk away, there are plenty more Meganes or similar models which have had no damage. You don't want the hassle

    I agree, it would be all too easy to ignore that! I guess if nothing else it's now got a new cambelt, which, I suppose helps sell a car. I guess he wouldn't have been able to document just the cambelt having been changed without accounting for the valves, too!

    Unless it's relatively cheap, I'd say find another one to be honest. Having said that, if it's been repaired and it drives and sounds okay, chances are it'll be fine!
