New World cooker damaged

Hi guys
I got a New World electric cooker with cermaic hob from Dixons online about 5 weeks ago. It's not the best but we have been happy with it so far.
Problem is several scuffs and marks have started to appear on the hob. I phoned New World (some of the worst CS I have ever come across) who told me I was using the wrong type of pans (a £50 set from M&S) and that it does state in the manual what kind to use. However, when it was delivered there was only a wiring diagram and a guarentee card with it. No manual in sight. New World said contact Dixons which I did and their CS sent something to Head office.
Whats my chances of getting something sorted?
Cheers

If the marks are on top of the ceramic, they can be removed with a dry cloth and some astonish paste. If they're scratches actually cut into the ceramic then you're stuck with them.
Also, your contract was with Dixons, not New World, so your complaint should go to them. It's not all doom and gloom, Dixons will argue that you should have NOT used it until you had a manual, and the fact that they forgot to include one won't count for anything. However, make sure you get a copy of the manual as soon as possible, because if it doesn't SPECIFICALLY say 'Don't use XYZ type of saucepans', then you can argue that you did nothing wrong and that the hob must be substandard - so there's still hope.0 -
Sorry but what is asonish paste? Worth giving it a go I guess.

Astonish paste is a kind of thick cream cleaner (like Cif but more of a paste). I think Orange Action make one as well. There is also a thinner cream cleaner specifically for ceramic hobs called Hobrite which is ok. They can all be bought in most supermarkets. You could also use them with a green plastic scourer - but that's only as a last resort (I've used a razor-blade scraper on my hob in the past, but mine was very old so I didn't mind risking it - it worked well).
If a pan boils over onto the hob and the liquid burns, well the BURN can get scratched by the saucepan so that it looks like the HOB has scratched - when it's just the burn mark that's been scratched. Like I said, my hob was ancient so I didn't mind treating it really roughly - but it withstood everything I did to it.0
