Want to switch from NPower

I haven't posted on this board before but I've received a notice of a price hike by NPower and wondered if anybody out there can help me switch?
I've used USwitch to calculate a new supplier and they've come up with Powergen and possibly Scottish Power.
Price is the critical factor with me and I do not want to use direct debit as I only want to pay for the gas % elec. I use with no standing charge.
My current plan is Dual Fuel. When I used uSwitch to choose new supplier, it only gave me dual fuel options. Does anyone know if you can find unit costs for gas and elect. with different suppliers to do a straight comparison? If so, does this make for cheaper bills?

99% of the time you will find it cheaper to go Dual fuel and pay by direct debit. You can always ask to reduce you monthly payments to ensure that your account is in debit rather than in credit.

The ideal company for you to switch to is https://www.ebico.co.uk
One price for leccy and one for gas,no gimmicks,no DD,pay each quarter as you use it.0 -
Hi Alared
Thanks for the info. I've looked at their website and their prices are way better than the new ones quoted by Npower.
One question: if I sign up to Ebico over the web do they contact my current supplier to make the switch or do I have to tell Npower first? Sorry have never switched supplier before! Bit dim!!0 -
I too want to switch from NPower - Crap customer service, too many made up bills and extremely high charges. I got a shock when they sent me a letter with my DD increase, time to change!
I'll have a nose at the ebico site & uSwitch, thanks :jThe £2.00 Coin Savers Club = approx £22.00  :j.. The 20p Savers Club = £17.80.

EBICO doesn't pay commission, so is not mentioned on Uswitch, altho perhaps so if you press social tariff button.
Energyhelpline or ukpower are alternative comparison sites. Ebico gas price is 2.55p per kWh inc vat, no standingcharge.Electric is 9.32p per kWh. inc vat. Economy 7 is available at 4.03p and 10.99p.0 -
I've just changed tp Ebico for my gas as it's definitely the cheapest out there. However, for me, Scottish Power was by far the cheapest for leccy at 7.65p/kw plus 14p/day standing charge. Maybe that's because we are fairly high users (but definitely taking steps to cut back). I checked my choices yesterday on energyhelpline and to see that the next cheapest option for my fuel needs would require £50 a year more from me was a great feeling (sad, I know). Of course, I will be keeping a VERY close eye out for any price increases and move again if need be.I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0

Careful with quoting Ebico leccy prices as they vary for regions...I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0 -
Have been with Ebico since July and change over was very simple. They kept me informed all the way by sending update 'post cards'. My daughter also recently switched and had no problem also.

If you sign up online Ebico do all the work for you and also contact your current (no pun intended)supplier.
It takes about six weeks in all but they do keep you informed what`s happening.
I have been with Pgen for many years but have finally had enough of their shoddy service, incompetence at producing a correct bill at the correct time and their endless excuses and lies.
My switch date to Ebico is the 24th of this month
can`t wait.0 -
I waited until thursday to move from Npower had been with them for a year and wanted my dual fuel discount of £60.00
As soon as I got my bill on Thursday checked out who was best on the 2 comparison sites both gave same answer. Scottish power came out cheapest.
Logged on to Quidco and switched to scottish power and had £35.00 cash back track with them in under an hour.
I aggree Npower CS is CR**.3.795 kWp Solar PV System. Capital of the Wolds0
