How do you keep track of your finances?

What system do you use to keep track of cheques written, direct debits, payments on debit card etc?

My husband has just set up as self employed, so I want to make sure I keep up to date with our personal finances. Not sure if there is an easy system that I can use on the computer, maybe something I can download?

Sorry for being a bit vague!

MSMoney - one of the earlier versions; it appears that the more recent ones aren't as good (I'm still using 2002); try a search on the boards for it.
    Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries

I too use MS Money and to a certain degree preferred the early versions but have got used to 2005 now.

Have a look on Amazon if you want to buy it quite reasonably :)

Yes it is but I don't know enough about Quicken to say if its better or not.

I got a free floppy of MS Money with my first pc and have been using it ever since so it is what I am used to.

I do several different accounts for small business on mine just setting up different accounts and find it works as well for that as it does for my personal banking :)

    A spreadsheet with self-referencing worksheets.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

I used MS Money for years, then switched to Quicken which I actually prefered.

I'm now back using MSMoney 2006 since Quicken decided to stop doing UK versions. :(

I use and love MS Money - I'm using an old version (98) but it helps me keep a close eye on my finances and I wouldn't be without it.

There is no doubt that it has saved me a lot of money and the dreaded bank charges !!
Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.

I'm another that uses Excel. Got it set up to show how a payment impacts on my accounts in terms of percentage of credit used, reduction in debt, total debt etc.
