hello fellow users
just wanted some info really, as ive gotta have a medical regarding my ESA in a couple of weeks time...
I had an accident at work, where I fell and badly damaged my left arm, I suffered bad nerve damage as a result of my fall, afterwards i couldnt do my job anymore, work told me that i was pretty much left with no choice but to leave as i was of no use to them afterwards and that i should leave and claim benefits, so, I gave them my notice and they agreed I left on medical grounds, I was there for 3 years and if it wasnt for the accident i had, I'd still be there now, but what im now worrying about is the horror stories ive heard about and read about regarding these medicals...
my left hand is totally knackered, i have no feeling or grip in 3 fingers, i cant even make a fist with my hand, its like a claw shape and im constant agony with it, i had nerve study done at the hospital and they told me that even if they operated on my hand it would be pretty much pointless because its knackered and would only cause me even more pain afterwards so they decided against it..
all im left doing is taking tablets, even that doesnt take away the pain and the constant pins and needles...
im worried that these esa medical people (atos i do believe) will decide that im not entitled to anything when i was told to leave my job on medical grounds, why would i leave a perfectly good well paid job that i actually loved to go onto benefits thats give me pittance compared to my wage that i earned...

From your post you dont have a chance of staying on ESA which assess you as fit for any job and not just the job that you gave your notice in for, that are many jobs that can be done without the full use of one hand the arm itself can be used for some things to aid the other hand to perform tasts etc. and you can ask for rehabilitation help to learn these things (if its provided in your area) and the tricks do come in useful, I have virtually no hand function in my primary hand and limited function in my none dom. arm accompanied with arm/shoulder limitations and it was useful to learn how to manage a thing or two.
Ask you doctor for a referal to a pain clinic if you need help with the pain and nerve damage, theres a lot that can be done to help.
Have you taken legal advice about the accident and the way you were treated by your former employers?0 -

yes I took legal advice about the accident and I was told I was at fault... Im not just saying it but I obviously dont agree....
I have not took legal advice about how I was treated tho, I wouldnt know how to do that....
as for the medical, I'll just have to see what happens...
