Hospital Parking

Hi, unfortunately I have only just discovered this thread and having read through it I have made a couple of errors in dealing with my parking ticket.
One point I need to mention is that I do not know exactly how long I overstayed the 15mins allowed but would estimate no more than about 10mins, and there were other cars that were there when I arrived and still there when I left which had not been given parking tickets (not disability)
I am at the moment leaning towards just paying the reduced demand of £15.00, any opinions and advice ?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts
MikeRob
Below is the communication between the parking company and myself;
Having followed the directions to the parking bays for collection of patients and waiting a short while for a bay to become vacant I parked in a bay, I am not sure what time I occupied the bay but my purpose at the hospital was to collect my son who was on the Queens Day Unit, Ward 1a on level 4. Once I entered the hospital I was not in control of the length of time taken to discharge my son from the hospital, information regarding his ongoing care needed to be passed on etc. If I did exceed any parking time limits it was not intentional and I was useing the parking bay for its intended use. I wish to appeal the issue of this Parking Charge Notice.
Regards MikeRob
Thank you for your emailed appeal.
We will investigate and contact you again within the next 14 days with our conclusion.
Please rest assured that your parking charge notice has been placed on hold for your appeal to be processed.
Yours Sincerely,
Total Parking Solutions Ltd
I have today recieved a demand for £60.00 regarding this matter but as yet have not had a response regarding my appeal.
On revisiting this location I could not find any information regarding fines or regulations relating to this parking area with the exception of a temporary sign hanging by string very high up on a pillar informing that this was a 15min zone. I do feel that information regarding this area should be made a lot clearer in order that people collecting patients are clearly made aware that they are in danger of contravening parking regulations and the consequences of a breach of the regulations, 15mins is not very long when you consider the size of the Hospital and the possible temporary disability of the patient being collected.
Please will you look into the matter of my appeal.
Regards MikeRob
Thank you for your email in which you raised concerns about the issuing of the above Parking Charge Notice (PCN).
It is the individual’s responsibility to abide by the terms and conditions clearly stated on the signage at this location.
Unfortunately, on this occasion your representation has been rejected, as the vehicle was parked in contravention of the Conditions of Use. It follows therefore, that the PCN was correctly issued and the amount £30.00 remains outstanding.
However we are willing to accept a reduced amount of £15.00 on the condition we receive your remittance within the next 7 days.
Yours Sincerely,
Total Parking Solutions Ltd

PCN. Winter is coming & if you have an open fire you will need something to help get it started. A PCN will do nicely0

What a surprise a company which needs money to survive isn't stopping the demand.
Simply ignore anything further. Why waste your time with a bunch of chancers?0 -
Please stop emailing them. You are taking them far too seriously. The whole thing is a scam, so from now on ignore them, and DO NOT PAY!0

Let me translate in a Mock the Week stylee:
Thank you for your email in which you raised concerns about the issuing of the above Parking Charge Notice (PCN).
Thank you for your email in which you fell for our phoney appeals process and think our unenforceable invoices are legit.
It is the individual’s responsibility to abide by the terms and conditions clearly stated on the signage at this location.
We have signs up which do not constitute a valid contract. By you not 'abiding' by them we get to cash in on our scam.
Unfortunately, on this occasion your representation has been rejected,
as the vehicle was parked in contravention of the Conditions of Use.
As on every occasion, your email was sent around the office and we all had a good laugh.
It follows therefore, that the PCN was correctly issued and the amount £30.00 remains outstanding.
It follows therefore, that we are just going to carry on sending you junkmail. We'll make it £30 and then probably think of a bigger figure later. The Christmas party isn't too far away now.
However we are willing to accept a reduced amount of £15.00 on the condition we receive your remittance within the next 7 days.
On the other hand, a 12 pack of Stella in the hand is worth more than in the bush, so pay up now so we can start the party early.
Yours Sincerely,
Total Parking Solutions Ltd

That 'true meaning' letter translation is brilliant, Alexis! :T
MikeRob don't even think about paying anything at all and do not waver when you get the letter-chain from a debt collector. Nothing happens, we have all been there, done that, ignored at least one PPC and lived to tell the tale without a smudge on our credit record.
And by the way, another poster says that Watchdog are going to cover PPC ticket scams again this week, like they did earlier this year. Make sure you watch the programme next week and in the meantime have a laugh with Anne Robinson and their legal expert Tim Cary about what they advised to do with a private PCN back in May:

HTH - why would you give scammers £15 or even 15p? Let them swivel.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for the replies folks.
I shall follow your advice and not pay or communicate further with TPS. I will compare any correspondence I recieve with that already posted by Crabman's sticky and post anything new/different.
Feeling naughty waiting for the headmaster to catch me out :A
