Sorry tried to read all the help on here but I am now confused. We are a ps3 family so this is a whole new world. My son wants an xbox. I was looking at getting him the 360 250gb.

At the moment we connect wirelessly to a bt homehub. Will this connect the same or do I have to buy anything else?

On ps3 some of the ps2 games are backwards compatible. Will this play ordinary old xbox games or do they have to be 360 games?

Will his ordinary bluetooth headset work with it?

Any clues where I get whatever I need to go live and is it dear. I know ps3 is free?

Thanks.

If you get the new Slim model, then it has wireless built in so you need nothing else.

Here is the list for compatible Xbox games. Note the list is now 3 years old. I presume the Slim will play original Xbox games.

Xbox live through the 360 will cost you around £40, though there was an offer for 15% off though I don't know if that's still going. You're probably better off getting it through an on-line retailer or even Ebay for around £32. They'll e-mail you the code and we can recommend some sites if need be. Remember that's a yearly cost.

On a new console and account, you should get 1 month free Gold when you sign up to a Silver account. You used to be able to do this 3 times on the old console. I don't know if this still applies to the Slim.

Just to add that the 360 uses Xbox Live points in the same way as Playstation Network cards for the PS3 i.e. for new map packs, extra content, etc.

you will also need to forward a port on your BT homehub for Xbox live. if you get any strict NAT issues thats what will be wrong .

don't worry it's pretty easy and quick to do if you follow the instructions here . assume you have Homehub 2 ( you can find older homehubs on site)

all Xbox 360 Live games seem to have the same procedure , so you only need to do it once .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

when you say bluetooth headset do you mean the 1 that he uses with the ps3, if os then no i dont think it would work but i do believe a headset is included with the xbox slim
  • There will be a wired headset included in the box. This plugs into the controller.

Wireless ones can be bought, but they will be extra and as far as I know a PS3 one won't work with an Xbox.

The bluetooth is just a normal mobile phone one that he uses on ps3. Does xbox use bluetooth technology?
