JSA - 'failure to apply' warning letter

Does anyone else have experience of receiving a 'failure to apply' letter from Jobcentreplus?
During my signing-on session on 14th September the batch of job descriptions I had printed off included one that, when I made direct contact with the company to obtain further details, required me to have previous experience of working in sales. As I have never worked in sales, I did not apply for this job. I did apply for all others I had printed.
I informed my JSA advisor of this the next time I signed-on, the 28th September.
Today I've received a letter warning me that my payments may be stopped for my failure to apply. I've explained the full situation and sent back to them, but just wondered if anyone else has experience of this and whether I should start trying to borrow money from family now for an impending cut-off of my JSA and HB?
I just wish the JSA advisor had informed me this could happen when I visited on 28th September as the closing date wasn't until this week and I would have sent the application off anyway (despite already having spoken direct with the company and being informed I would not be suitable).
Anyone? This happened to anyone? Are Jobcentreplus normally understanding about things like this? Or has my mistake just resulted in my benefits being stopped?

You could argue that you did in fact apply by telephone. Certainly, you did everything intelligently, and it would be really sad if you were to face grief as a result.0

I was given the opportunity to write and give the reasons for my failure to apply, and so have given them the name of the person at the company I spoke to and the day and time that I phoned (I keep a full log of these things, luckily). I was just wondering what people's experiences of this were, and whether writing to them will actually do anything or whether that, now I am on the system, I should just expect a further letter in the next day or so confirming my JSA has been stopped?
Searching the web for other such examples hasn't exactly filled me with confidence.0
