Get yourself a netbook which will do everything you want and more, in a way that you are used to using your computer and at about 1kg only. My only absolutely necessary companion on my travels (and I also have a smartphone and an iPod touch).
To sweaten your gadget life. Also get yourself a MiFi, unlock it and use a SIM card from the country you are visiting and you'll also have internet on the move on your netbook.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -
thought about an APAD/iPed http://www.apadonline.co.uk/ , also apparently available on ebay too and cheaper. Think it runs android.

MiFi is mobile broadband wifi basically instead of having a mobile broadband dongle which plugs into only one computer you have the MiFi dongle which turns the connection into a wireless one,Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
As you can probably gather, nothing is quite there yet. Though what apparently works is the 'MIFI + Ipad Option' as a lot of 'business travellers' seem to like them; http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/193751/take_the_ipad_ditch_the_notebook_when_you_travel.html there's also the advantage of once you're inside the plane and they put the lights out, you'll not see so much of YOURSELF being reflected back at you in the screen. Yes it's good for travelling, but it has a mirror like quality seen in most notebook computers of the last 5 years or so which seem to think reflections are good! Why I've no idea?:eek:
Which is the reason I'm waiting another couple of months for the InkNotion Adams final release: http://notionink.wordpress.com/ & Sample Adam Images:http://notionink.files.wordpress.com/2010/10/reimagesurgent1.jpg and its Pixel Qi screen: http://www.pixelqi.com/bl!!!/ or you could just buy a suitable Netbook and a Pixel Qi screen and do it yourself of course: http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/19/how-to-install-pixel-qis-3qi-display-on-your-netbook-and-why/
You could try assuming you've enough money the following: Terrafugia: http://www.terrafugia.com/ saves on airfare
and once you've landed and put away your necessary bits and pieces you could whip out your: http://socialnews.toshiba.co.uk/media/AC100_FINAL.pdf with inbuilt 3G Card Slot. You can read more about it here: http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/21/toshibas-ac100-8-hour-smartbook-runs-android-2-1-on-a-1ghz-tegr/
