Hi everyone.
i have a problem and wondered if anyone knows what i can do to fix this.
I have had an extension built and have put in some new bt points in the new study/office that we had put in and when i triedto reconnect my broadband in we could no longer get on line, after phoning sky (took ages to get through to them) therer technical team said the reason is is that we are now to far away from the master coming into the bungalow.
What is the best way around this so that i can move my broadband into the new room? they suggested going wireless in the new room? is this right and will it work or is there an alternative?
Thanks everyone for looking.

distance from the master shouldn't make a huge difference I wouldn't have thought, does it sync OK if you remove the faceplate from your master socket and connect in there? if so the problem is your internal wiring and no point calling/contacting anyone else. Is your bell wire disconnected (generally obsolete these days and doesn't help BB connections)? is your extension correctly wired?
A wireless router is pretty much standard these days and offers security benefits over and above direct modem connections into your PC, it is likely your router won't sync anywhere your current modem won't sync wither so worth getting to the bottom of that first.
regards getting a router threatening to cancel/switch your BB to someone who will supply a wireless router should spring a free one out of Sky (but you might need to commit to another 12 months with them in exchange)0 -
Poor extension wiring is the cause of a lot of broadband problems.
As the other poster says, do not connect the bell wire to any extensions (pin 3) you should only have wires going to pins 2 and 5 on the back of the face plate.
PS You haven't connected your extensions after an ADSL filter.
Best to have the router connected directly to your master socket.
You could do one of three things, buy a wireless adapter for your PC.
Use a long ethernet cable to connect the PC, or use a pair of homeplugs (mains networking).
PPS Sky routers are all wireless. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
