When does a seller give up?

I've had my eye on a gorgeous leather jacket that a seller has been trying to sell for months, and I mean months.
The trouble is she puts a reserve on 90% of her auctions which are all used clothes
She has relisted the desired garment at least six times:eek: So she starts it at £10 but it fails to sell.
This has happened to a number of her listings. She currently has a used cardigan with a reserve!!
How much is this costing her? I gather the fee is unrefundable if a reserve item doesn't sell.
I really want the jacket but be damned to pay a minimum of a £50 jacket that I could probably get brand new in TK Maxx for the same price.
Why do sellers do this to themselves, surely she must have clocked up a heavy Ebay bill?

  • I do wonder if some people actually realise how much they are paying in ebay charges. Perhaps they don't look at their invoice or bank statement.

I did mention in another thread on here about a seller who lists Poundland and Morrison items for about £1.25 on a BIN.

Back to the leather jacket, would it be worth emailing her asking if she'd take an offer?

I was thinking that a while back but considering the ludricous prices she expects to sell her used garments for I think she would decline.
I mean she even had a non-designer fabric bag with a reserve!!

  • She has to put a reserve of £50 on the jacket..........that's the minimum amount eBay allow as a reserve.

Why not ask her if she'll name a price that would be acceptable? She might say Yes...worse she can do is say No, thank you. At least you'll know for sure if it's worth pursuing any longer.

I know that but she's deluded if she thinks she'sll get £50 for a used unbranded shirt, cradigan, jacket bag et al.
I've offered her £25 so it'll be intresting to see what she says.
In the past I have seen her list the desired jacket at a starting price of £30 with no reserve, but to no avail. You think she would realise her garments are not worth much
