age limit for paypal?

Is there an age limit for joining paypal...ie over 18?
I ask as my son has sold his xbox on ebay, legitimate sale, excellant condition etc, he looked after it really well, sent it packaged with care, 4 weeks later the buyer has raised an issue saying the tray sticks and it looks like a screw has been tampered with at the back???Which it most definately hasnt and begs the question what was he doing to it to come across this.
Anyway, paypal have given the buyer his money back so my sons paypal account is now in negative funds.
I am trying to work out a way round this for him as I know for a fact he is being set up there was not a thing wrong with that xbox, as he is 16 im hoping that he is underage to have a paypal account and I can use that.
Any other sensible suggestions appreciated.

Firstly, have you got the console back? That's the most imprtant thing, if not get your son to phone paypal and insist they retain theh funds until the box is returned.

AS for your questiion your son must have confirmed to paypal at some point that he is over 18, or else he has used someone elses details. If he has used his own and has falsely represented himself as of age with paypal he might, strangely enough, be able to do something legally to say he could not have entered into any contractual agreement. Realistically though i suspect any legal action would cost several thousand times more than the amount he stands to lose.

The best thing to do for your son is to talk him through a paypal dispute, make sure you both know what is happening and how to deal with it. Then once it has all been resolved close down his ebay and his paypal account and then lecture him about the foolishness of lying about his age.

Alternatively, if he has used someone else details then that person needs to take over the dispute, remove their details that he has stolen and report the matter to paypal so that the account can be re secured and making sure he cannot get access to it again.

This is what I was wondering if you do indeed have to be over 18, he has it in his name with his own bank account attached to it but says he doesnt remember it asking for his age, he has over 300 feedback on ebay all 100% positive and has been buying and selling for years with no problems whatsoever apart from this. Il have a look at paypal and see what has to be done to raise a dispute. Can he do this even though the buyer has raised one and has been awarded the money? He hasnt had the console back and the buyer wont respond to emails either.

Paypal should not be refunding the buyers money until the buyer can prove he has returned the console. Your son needs to call paypal and insist they follow their own rules on this.

You can't call them, only the account holder can. If you phone and tell them that the account was not being run as per paypal's terms and conditions they might just close it down and find for the buyer as seller would be outside the paypal protection.

If this account is in your sons name then he must deal with it, and best not to let on about his age until after this has been sorted, just in case.

PP is right, he shouldn't be using ebay at all at his age. Hope you get the console back.
