Portable Hard Drive Recommendations

I would like to buy a portable USB External Hard Drive to store my music and back up some files from my desktop. I really don't want to spend more than £50. Do you have recommendations for a decent hard drive and what memory size would be best for about 800 songs and a few files?
Thanks
Thanks

Depends on the size of your files + 800 songs? Just get a USB key (say about 8gig more than enough).
If you get a hard disk (2.5 / 3.5 inch), it will more than likely get damaged if you are intending to move it around or carry it with you. 3.5 is basically not practical to carry.0 -
I picked up a 16gb USB stick from Tesco for £10. They had some left a couple of weeks ago0

Thanks for that. Sorry, by "portable" I am really only looking at being able to take it from room to room to connect to my laptop.0

For 50 quid you can get a Seagate 500 gb portable hard drive from Amazon. That should keep you going for a while. Flash drives are more portable but if that is not so important then you are getting a lot more storage for your money with the Seagate.0

Memory capacity is addictive. The more space you have the more stuff you find to fill it. I would suggest 1 TB (terabyte) and go for a good brand as it is horrible if they fail and you lose your files. Western Digital have always been fine for me."Mr. Quin smiled, and a stained glass panel behind him invested him for just a moment in a motley garment of coloured light..."0
