Talk Talk phone package - problem

Hi - Just wondering if anyone could help/advise me please.
on 11.06.10 I placed an order with Talk Talk to update my package to include line rental and calls. On 13.08.10 I received a letter stating there was an isolated issue they were trying to resolve, and they would advise me would the update would take place.
To day my phone line has been cut off, I phoned Talk Talk - I was amazed when they said that I had not placed any order. ( I did not have the aforementioned letter with me to quote dates). The lady stated I would have to pay £70 to get re-connected.
I will phone them tomorrow with the dates - there are no reference numbers on the letter. I know it has been a long time since getting the letter - and not chasing things up - had a lot of other things on my mind.
Please could someone help me word what I have to say to them? I don't think I should be paying the reconnection fee - but if I get pushed into a corner, I would probably back down if I get upset.
Thank you

The phone staff will tell you any old crap and lies, totally rubbish service. Best to consider getting rid of TT all together.0 -
Hi Sooler - yes that is what happened. I was passed round people, I kept stating my name address then the problem. I have had it with TT. I tried ringing my land line from my mobile - the mobile is ringing but not the land line phone, hope that makes sense. Will get in touch with BT.0
