Barclaycard credit limit increase

I have a Barclaycard Platinum which I don't use very often (usually just when I travel on business), and it has a £2k limit. Out of the blue today I received a text from them... they have increased my limit to £5k.
I don't have a problem with this - £2k is fine for a week or so (hotel, car hire, expenses etc) but for trips that last longer I've sometimes had to put some of the costs on my normal credit card... so it's nice to have a bit of an extra buffer to keep all the costs of the trip on one card.
But I seem to recall that unsolicited credit increases were either outlawed or were not allowed any more under the banking code. Did I imagine this?

If you are that upset about the increase why not just tell them to reduce it aint that hard mate.0 -

I'm not upset at all, I just thought it wasn't allowed any more to prevent credit card companies bumping up limits on those who have credit card debts, and encouraging them to spend beyond their means and then hitting them with hiked interest rates on the balances...0 -
You dont seem upset by your post, some people eh lol. They can still increase your limit but they have to send you a letter to inform you of this and give you the options, so it should mention it on your next paper Barclaycard statement if you have one._________________________________________

Apologies just thought you were peed off cause they have increased your limit.0 -
Same thing for me they've just increased my limit by almost 60% from £4,000 to £6,400, without making me aware. Did not receive a letter and have paper less statement0

My limit still £10,000 ... no change here (yet).0

Nothing here and not ever expecting an increase to be honest.0

I got a text from them too this afternoon bumping me up from a £6k limit to £9k. I’ve only had the card since April and currently on a 0% BT deal.
For clarity – Not upset..... Very happy :j0
