Best place for £2k?

I've got £2k that I want to invest - this will be my "rainy day savings" - in case of household/car emergencies - so it will need to be easy ish to access, but I don't want to be dipping into it, so doesn't need to be regular access - where is the best place for it?

I appreciate that it's not mega bucks, and I won't get a dramatic return on it - I was thinking of maybe buying some premium bonds??

Any help you can offer would be great....

If you might need the money for emergencies you probably want instant access: could you wait 30 days if the car or boiler broke down? Have a look at the instant access savings article on the main site. You can expect to earn just under 3% a year at the moment, but more important really is that you have some savings in place as a cushion if you do run into one of life's little mishaps.
