I was not sure whether to post this in the home phones thread or here, so apologies if I have got this wrong. My cordless landline handset has died on me, and so needs replacing - he cheapest one at argos seems to be a binatone at £50. i just wondered if this was a reasonable buy or if anyone has seen any other god deals. i am looking for something easy to set up ( plug and go really) but wondered if I would be better with a named brand?
The old one was a phillips which lasted for 6 years. I have tried changing tghe batteries but this hasn't helped. Any suggestions very gratefully received!

I saw a few good ones on ebay the other day. For instance, have a look at the BT Synergy series.....you can buy them in single, twin, trio or quad packs.
You can also get them even cheaper if you opt for a "factory refurb" deal, which most seller offer with at least a 6 month (if not 12 month) warranty.0 -
Have a look at http://www.telephonesonline.co.uk/
I can recommend them and I believe they also have an Ebay shop0 -
I just bought a Panasonic DECT phone with SMS and Answermachine on eBay for £34.95 inc P&P. It's excellent - colour screen, caller display, different ringtones for different groups of people, basically lots of features that you get on cellphones that don't normally come as standard on a home phone.
It's ex-catalogue but absolutely pristine condition and a great phone considering they were around the £100-mark only about 12 months ago.Mortgage Feb 2001 - £129,000
