Wide wellies

Options
I know there was a recent post about warm wellies but im after a pair of wide ones.

I bought a pair of Tickled pink ones at Tesco today thinking they would be fine as they had an adjuster buckle, but they cut my circulation off at the calves.

I really wanted them for Friday as we are going up the north of Scotland and wanted decent boots to join the family on walks. I thought id be able to get a pair at a supermarket but I had no idea my legs were quite so huge :o.

I used to have a pair of short ones and they were ideal. But most supermarkets all have tall ones.TIA

  • I can thoroughly recommend Jileon wellies. I bought a pair from the site a couple of months ago, ok they aren't cheap but I have wide calves and they have the extendable straps and gussets on both sides of the leg. Just google Jileon and you'll find the site. HTH:money:

thanks I just had a look. I saw a pair I quite liked but to get them for Friday it will be £9 postage. I will look at them in the future for a decent pair.

I plan to go out hunting tomorrow.

I have the same problem. I bought some shortened ones off Ebay last year, I think I just put wide wellingtons in the search box and there were loads to choose from. Try Evans, I know they do boots for wider calves so they probably do wellies too. New Look have a wider shoe section so maybe they have a boots for wider calves too. I always find it difficult to find boots that fit.
  • I have also had this problem as I have wide calves but also small feet so I just bought a normal pair and cut off the top tight area. There is no fraying as made from rubber, just wear long socks and turn over the rough edge.

    Have a good trip:j

I've also had this problem :rotfl:So hard to get them without paying a fortune and ridiculous postage charges. I have just managed to get a pair in Matalan though for £12 that fit fine which is the first pair that ever have :T

My mum always told me to turn the tops down as the wellies go wider in the middle then narrower at the top, and I must say it works with some wellies. But at the moment I have a pair of ankle wellies with zips in the side.

Dickies Ladies Pennine Wellingtons are wide leg boots. They aren't very long either. You should be able to get them for around £10-15 (unless you live near their factory shop where they are about £8)
  • This has annoyed me for ages - I am not a big lady (size 12) but I do cycle a lot so my calves are massive. Tried a pair on in Wilkinsons one time and my mate had to help me off with them. Thought I'd struck lucky in Aldi's but, whilst I could get them on, there is no way I could get a pair of jeans on and tuck them in, what's the point of wearing them over the top?!! Think I shall have to try to get to Matalan and see if I can get theirs on. Very interesting thread!

Jane - Matalan had several designs but only one fitted me, they are black with pink and white flowers on; can get them on with leggings etc not tried jeans yet. Good luck :)
  • i have some wellies made by Coolers, they are shorter wellies made of some kind of foamy rubber, not explaining it very well but they are lovely and wide in the feet and leg and very comfy too
