I applied for DLA in December last year. It was turned down so I appealed and in May it went to the tribunal board for consideration. I phoned the tribunals people in August to see what the hold up was and they said they had my details and were awaiting a date. It is now October and I still havent heard anything, is this time delay normal? Sorry for long post!

Appeals can take up to a year for a date so I'm afraid it's just a matter of biding you time, which is a pain. Keep ringing them every now and then for updates, but you will have to wait.0 -

My son has Aspergers, well, he didn't at the time of the claim as he was undiagnosed then, but when I got a rejection saying I had a son no different from another child of his age, and that there was no medical evidence of Autism I asked for a second opinion diagnosis and got him diagnosed with Aspergers. I also got school reports, psychologist report as extra evidence.
I won the tribunal. They asked me lots of questions and I felt it was quite fast paced so I think they're checking I was saying the same as I'd written, which I was as I only wrote average days in the claim form.
I know the last time I rang tribunals (couple of months ago) they had 20,000 cases in the queue as they deal with the ESA rejections as well.
Do you have any one representing you? I had a welfare rights officer and she kept me calm as I was so nervous.
Best of luck with yours.Payment a day challenge: £236.69

Keep submitting evidence to them if you can as these are sometimes cancelled with more information. Idela if you can get a professional to support you, and provide further statements.0

My friend was told August, then November, now January - DLA for her son stopped in May, despite high level of care and mobility needs.0
