Converting my usage !
Hi Guys
I am sure its been asked before...
I am trying to compare rates etc , we are with Atlantic...
They now write to you to say what your 12 month usage was etc and what they expect you to use etc.....but just looking at my Gas bill , i cant work out what the usage is , as i know average Gas consumption is about 20000kwh ?
It says here
"4566.00kwh standard energy and 5518.87 kwh discounted energy and they estimate my yearly bill based on those figures will be £396...how do i turn those usage figures into the correct amount so i can compare ?
Cheers in advance

Its just occured to me , that A)They have told me they owe us £115 which they will carry over to pay the yearly bill....B)They have TOLD us based on usage that it will be as above £396 per year = £33 a month C)The bill is an estimate and is higher by 4 units than my actual reading
all this tells me that Atlantic are ripping me off seeings as our monthly DD is £45 a month !0 -
Also , surley we use more than 10084 kwh of gas a year , two bed victorian house masionette ?! (good boiler though apparently , worcester bosch fancy thing)0

Hi DGJsaver - It appears from your figures that you are on a "No Standing Charge" tariff which is a complete misnomer.
Utilities collect a Service Charge in one of two ways:
A) A Daily Standing Chargewhich is exactly what it says on the tin
A No Standing Charge tariff is where they collect the Service charge by charging more money for a fixed amount of units per year, with everything after that number being charged at a lower rate
In your case the 'Standard Energy' units are those at the higher rate - Have a look at your tariff to find out how many there are a year, and the 'Discounted Energy' is the lower cost units for all the rest.
If you want to get an annual use figure to put into a Switch site, just add the two together, which comes to 10,084 Kw a year.0 -

Depends how careful you are and how you have your heating set up.... my gas useage has averaged 1800 kwH a year for the last 4....
....one summer I got a gas bill for £2.02
