    I've just bought a property (completed today!) partly because I honestly can't afford to rent. The rent for my property would be more than twice the cost of the monthly mortgage payment!

    I'm very lucky that I was able to though. The article mentions that FTBs are staying in rented to save up for the big deposits required these days, but rental accommodation is so expensive, how can people on low wages pay for it and still save? Some may never be able to buy and never have that security.
