hi everyone this is my first post, i am thinking of switching energy suppliers for both gas and electric, and on doing comparisons based on my monthly spend i could save £166 if i change to scottish power. i am currently on edf enery assist and i did used to get a gas rebate from them of around £80 every 6 months but that was when i was on a gas pre payment meter i do not have this anymore so i think the discount is already reflected in my monthly payments now, and i am paying £40 a month for gas and £47 a month for gas which has recently gone up from £40 a month.
i am really confused as to what would be the best savings for me, i have been looking at the online saver tarriffs which seem to be quite good savings but i would lose out on the energy assist with edf, as i am currently on jobseekers allowance with my partner and have 3 children. but i may make more savings by changing to the online tarrif, any help would be grately appreciated.

Hi sonnysmummy, and welcome to MSE :hello:
Do the comparison again, but this time use your anticipated annual consumption figures in kWh; it's the only way to get accurate results.
You can get your annual consumption figures either from a previous bill or contacting your current supplier who should be able to advise.
As you are currently on a social tariff, you'll need the expected cost of this years consumption to compare costs from a comparison site against.
Again, your supplier should be able to advise this if you don't have the details from a bill."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
