Initially in two instant access savings accounts, £40,000 in each so that the whole amount is protected by the Financial Services compensation Scheme.

Beyond that, what are your plans for the money? For many people the next thing to do will be to invest it via unit trusts in a stocks and shares ISA and similar investments outside an ISA.

    Hi

I'm interested to know why you think property is a good investment at the moment.

If interest rates rise, as they surely must at some point, and unemployment continues to rise isn't this a recipie for house prices to fall?

When it comes to commercial property, the same interest rate pressures could be argued to apply.

    Hi

    Far more information is needed:

    1. What is your tax rate?
    2. How long are you prepared to invest for?
    3. Do you want capital growth or income?
    4. Have you used your ISA allowance?
    5. How much risk are you prepared to take?
    6. Are you an experienced investor?

    Etc etc.

Give us more info and we can help!
