Interestingly it says that early closure is allowed with an interest penalty, so if you have a spare £5000 lying around, you could probably do this offer and withdraw the funds back to where you borrowed them from.

If you could afford it, you could pay in £5000, collect £35 cashback, then close and withdraw - ignoring the interest on the deal which is negligible anyway and get £35?

This is the reply i received to my support ticket, which strongly suggests that quidco are blameless and that Nationwide changed the terms :

'As mentioned on MSE, Nationwide changed the terms and conditions of the offer and asked us to update our site accordingly.

We have contacted them about this, as you are correct - there is a large difference between the original £1 and the current £5000 rule. We are awaiting their response as to whether there was an initial error on their part and, as such, will the cashback offered be honoured for those who have already taken advantage of it.

We should hear from them today or on Monday at the latest, and as soon as we do I will contact you again.

In the meantime, thank you for your patience'.

Nationwide building society ebonds - Hi,i opened a nationwide ebond yesterday morning, with the promise of £35 cashback.
At the point of the transaction, the criteria was to open the bond with a £1 minimum, but later in the day, that figure rose drastically to £5000 minimum. As i opened the bond in good faith with the original offer,am i correct in expecting that Nationwide will not decline my cashback and will pay me in full.
    Quidco Reply......
    Hi,

Your will be eligible for the cashback rate that was advertised on Quidco.com at the time you made your transaction.

I trust this helps with your enquiry.

    Kind regards,

    Quidcare

According to the reply, yes, but i can't say it fills me with confidence,it just seems like the person hasn't really looked into it and has merely sent a standard reply.

I'll believe Quidco when they actually pay it out, in view of their previous history.

I'll stick with my personal motto - 'Never trust Quidco".

It is 90 days interest penalty if you withdraw or close the account which will cost you around £30, so is it worth it for less than £5 profit?
