I'm sorry to hear about money shortages. :( I know the feeling.

I know what you mean about the weather. This morning asn't too bad this morning but it turns dull and cold this afternoon.

    Take care. :)

We have had to light the fire tonight but it does at least heat the water too. I hope your hand is recovering well bonnington. And that thngs improve generally for you.

DH is self employed and while the weather has been bad he has struggled for work. Luckily this week he has indoor work.

We have been invited out to dinner tonight. To a relative's so we won't be expected to take anything, maybe a bottle of wine. It will be lovely to be able to spend time with family. Then have been invited to dinner with friends tomorrow too. They want to meet us in a restaurant. I don't know why these things happen when we don't have any spare cash. We haven't been out in the evening for a meal in months.

Mr Pooh and 2 sons and DB are all going to watch olympic football on Sunday. I have just been reminded that Mr P will need some cash for that too. Aaaaargh!
I can make sandwiches or maybe some pies/pasties to take with them but they can't take drinks. 2 x DSs are off to a festival today too. They won the tickets in a competition ot they couild not have afforded to go. I have offered food from cupboards/freezer but they have decided to buy sandwiches. at least I am not paying for them. :)

It never rains but it pours in this household.

I managed to go out for the day and spend only £6.99 on a wedding present for a friend's daughter and fiance. We have been invited to a post wedding party on Sunday and need to take some food so I can make something to take.

Last week I spent on 20 fleece blankets to insulate the windows for Winter. They were just 2.49 from Mr T and I spent my vouchers on them.

The big dog has a lump on his leg but the dogs have a 6 monthly health check next week so I will ask about it then. He doesn't seem to care about it. We pay £24 a month for two dogs and it covers all their jabs, flea and worming plus a twice yearly check and 10% off any treatment needed. Fingers crossed that his lump is okay and can be left. He isn't insured.

I have managed to get the Barclays mortgage to under £28000 so feel as though I am getting somewhere even if it is extremely slow.

We managed to incur another £15 charge with the bank. I forgot that for a DD to be paid the cash has to be in the account the day before. I had plenty in the day all the DDs went out but it was too late. Only one thing was returned but still it makes me concerned.

I feel as though I am talking to myself so haven't posted for a few days.

BUT if I don't do it I might become too complacent.

Today I managed to spend just £2.80 on some battered bananas (battered as in bashed about, not the other type :) and a bag of apples. It makes me feel better to have some fresh fruit in the house even if it is only me who is eating it at the moment.

I made butternut squash risotto using the recipe from here; http://www.cheap-family-recipes.org.uk/

I am going to make more of an effort to use the recipes from there again as DH is not managing to work more than about 10 days per month because of the dreadful weather.
We are trying to raise the money needed to insulate the house and pay off a HUGE garage bill.

  • Not totally to yourself my dear!

Sorry its still a bit "tight", but look at what you've done so far - whilst the totals are coming down slowly they are still coming down. You are one amazing lady and your journey inspires me on mine.
Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

Thanks, sorry folks was just feeling a bit down.

Sometimes the pressure gets to me but you all go through it too I know or you wouldn't be on here. It is good to have an outlet.

Talking to DH about it doesn't work as he gets even more stressed than me and over reacts. At least now I tell him when there is nothing available and he listens and remembers.
I hate it that we have two direct debits in the middle of the month that are so easily forgotten. They are not big but enough to push us into paying charges if the money isn't in the account the day before. What I need is some sort of reminder. Maybe something like Martin's e mail reminder to start looking for new 0% cc when nearing the end of an offer?

And the companies won't allow us to change the direct debit date.:(

Well off to the hospital now and to see if I can get some free dishwasher tablets at Mr Ts with my vouchers from the survey. I gave a few away but now wish I had kept them.

Hi Pooh, sorry to hear you've been a bit down. Your DH sounds a lot like mine. It's bad enough having to cope with the debts, without their stress and angst adding to our burden. That's the reason I keep Mr Happy out of it! But yes, definitely good that DH listens now when you tell him there is no money available. And these diaries are a good way of letting off steam and clearing our heads without needing to actually talk about it.

About the mid-month direct debits, do you have a calendar on your phone? I can set reminders on mine, and maybe you could do that a couple of days before the direct debits are due?

Has your big dog had his lump checked yet? Hope it was nothing serious.
