    Right!

So now you DO have a choice, get out there and look!

Your experiences will be sooooooo much better if you just put a bit of time into choosing the right place.

    Start today!!
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
  • Thanks Toothsmith for your advice, its made me feel better about having a bit of metal stuck in my gum:D

My school friend needed braces but was scared. Normal check ups were OK but no more. Luckily she had good teeth, perhaps because they were well spaced.
She finally plucked up courage for her brace when she was 54. The kids at school thought she was 'dead cool' when she had coloured 'bits' on it. Turned out to be a super job and she says it has made her more confident.
Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me

I was going to suggest earplugs, but ...

First, find your dentist. Explain your hearing loss, and make sure you can understand them, preferably when still wearing their mask. Get all your questions answered. Then, sort out a signal - mine always used to say "raise your hand if you need me to stop." When it's time for drilling, remind your dentist of that signal. Then, switch off the hearing aids before the drill starts! If you have to raise your hand, you can switch them on again.
Signature removed for peace of mind
  • Thanks sue i can still hear without the hearing aids im partially deaf in 1 ear and tinnitus in both ears its murder and everything plays havoc with them :( i cant even go clubbing and im 21!!!! I'll find a way of getting round it i guess i need to stop being soft, if they made them silent i wouldnt have a problem i dont think :)
