slightly complicated...

...i'm a final year student about to start a pgce in september. as part of my pgce i get £600 a month, of which i want to save at least £200 per month towards a house deposit.

i will also be taking out a student loan of £2600 which will be saved too, as it works out much better in the long run to get a student loan at 2.7% meaning i can get a smaller mortgage which is obviously charged at a higher rate.

the question is - where am i best off investing these monies?

i already have an ISA: am i better off paying my loan into this and my bursary into a saver account (i.e. halifax's 7.0%) or paying my bursary into my ISA and my loan into a saver's account?

    Hi,

It seems a bit of a no-brainer, really :-) - you put the lump sum into the ISA and the monthly payment into the, er, monthly saver account :-)
