I an trying to obtain a medical report for my wife from the hospital consultant. This is to be used in an up and coming appeal for dla. I have written to the consulant asking him if he could provide information on her condition, but I have not received any reply.
Is there a procedure to obtain a medical report or is it up to the discretion of the hospital consultant?

From my experience, consultants will only supply reports to doctors unless you pay for them. As you haven't had a request for payment then he might do it for you but I had to wait five months for a report recently and in the end events overtook each other and there was no point in it being done.0

I thought that the hospital consultant usually had to send a medical report to the D.L.A. This was the case when my neighbour appealed to the D.L.A. Might be worth you ringing up and speaking to the consultants secretary. They are usually very helpful. Often letters can be put to the back of the patients notes. Hope this helpsWhen life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile0 -
From experience of dealing with Consultants, they are extremely busy people ( or so they would like us to think! hehehe).
Do you have the Consultants' secretary's number? If yes, then give them a ring and explain the situation. If not contact main reception at the hospital and get put through.
Good luck xxxx
P.S.. If all else fails, then email the Chief Executive and complain that an important letter has not been completed etc etc. I know this sometimes seems quite extravagant, but sometimes this is the only way to get something done for you, and you do hae every right to have the information you are asking for.
